Remember when six members of Oceanic flight 815 escaped after the plane hit the water? Do you recall how terrible it was when everyone else died? And is it not incredible that Kate, pregnant at six months, was able to land safely in the water and successfully give birth to her son, Aaron? Any devoted Lost watcher knows these statements to be false, yet these are just some of the lies the Oceanic Six told the press after their rescue from the island.
Confused? You should be.
It is a truly sad day when a grown woman feels the need to harass a teenage girl. Even worse is when she does it hiding behind the anonymity offered by the Internet. Lori Drew, of St. Louis, Missouri, did exactly that. “Josh Evans” appeared on MySpace in 2006 and began chatting with thirteen-year-old Megan Meier, a former friend of Drew’s daughter. She believed he wanted to pursue a relationship with her. Then Drew, along with nineteen-year-old coconspirator Ashley Grills, told Megan that the “world would be better off without” her.
It seems to me that everything in the world of technology is becoming super-sized. Intel has leaked information about their new six-core processor. Hitachi recently started marketing their Terabyte hard drive. (For those of you who don’t speak Greek or Geek, that translates into 1,000 GB or five trillion-zillion songs). Even input devices like mice have become mega-sized, either enhanced with features or encrusted with jewels. Recently, I found a new device that has joined the upgrade parade—the Optimus Maximus keyboard.
As expected from pretty much the beginning, the American Idol finale will feature two singers named David. Producers and judges have been pushing for this match-up for weeks, even as Syesha Mercado turned in amazing, finale-worthy performances. While the finalists share the same first name, however, David Cook and David Archuleta could not be more different. The finale will be less about who is the better singer (as they are both quite talented) and more about what America is looking for from their next “idol.”
Lately, it seems like there is a new natural disaster of epic proportions every day, somewhere in the world. Cyclones, tornadoes, earthquakes, oh my! I wouldn’t be surprised if people started saying that the end of the world was upon us. The horrific truth of the matter is that there are millions of people worldwide who are in desperate need of help after these recent events, and sadly, they aren’t necessarily getting it.
